The Feast of St. Joseph

      

       The parishners of St. Joseph's malankara catholicj Church, Mathikere  have decided to celebrate the annual Feast of their parish on 25th July 2010. The church committee has charted various programmes under the leadership of Fr. James to make the 7 days celebrations a memorable one. The festivity will start with the flag hoisting by the Vicar on the 18th of July 2010, holy mass for each families of the parish on the weekdays, adorations, sermons the celebrations will be at its fullest during the Special Holy mass on the 25th of July 2010 for which Most Rev. Dr.Joseph Mar Thomas, the Bishop of Bathery will be the main celebrant. The celebrations will conclude with cultural activities from the Sunday school kids, MCYM and the other movements of the church and a Snehavirunnu in the afternoon.

Msgr. Dr. Thomas Naickamprambil is appointed as the 1st bishop of the New Exarchate

of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church in America

         The Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI erected a new Exarchate for the Malankara Catholics in North America. Rev. Fr. Thomas Naickamparambil of the Major Archieparchy of Trivandrum was appointed the first Bishop of the new Exarchate. The Bishop-elect is also appointed Apostolic Visitator of the Malankara Catholics in Canada and Europe by the Holy Father. The announcement is made simultaneously in Vatican and St. Mary's Cathedral, Pattom, Trivandrum at 3.30 pm Indian time. Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos, the Father and the Head of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church and other Metropolitans and Bishops were present at the announcement function held at Pattom.

Rev. Fr. Thomas was born on 6 June 1961 at Mylapra in Pathanamthitta District of the Eparchy of Pathanamthitta. Mr. N.T. Varughese and Mrs. Sosamma Varughese of Naickamparambil family are his parents. His home parish is Sacred Heart Malankara Catholic Church, Mylapra. After completing schooling from Govt U.P. School Moozhiyar and Sacred Heart High School, Mylapra, he joined St. Aloysious Minor Seminary, Pattom, Trivandrum. On passing Pre-Degree from Mar Ivanios College, Trivandrum, he was send to the Papal Seminary, Pune where he completed priestly formation. On 29 December 1986 he was ordained a priest by Benedict Mar Gregorios of happy memory. He secured a Masters Degree in Philosophy from Jnana Deepa Vidhya Peeth, Pune and took Doctorate in Philosophy from the Gregorian University, Rome.

Episcopal Ordination of the Bishop-designate will be held at St. Mary's Cathedral Pattom, Trivandrum on Tuesday 21 September 2010.
